24 Sep Put Yourself First
It’s never selfish to put yourself first… I’ve struggled with this life lesson a LOT over the years, wanting to please everyone, make sure everyone else was happy and taken care of before making time for things that made me feel alive. .
Not that I don’t enjoy helping other people – I LOVE that ?? but that was part of my problem…
I was SO focused on that part that I lost touch with a part of me. I started feeling drained and tired all the time, I lacked motivation to do things, I made the same New Year’s resolutions year after year only to make excuses later for why I didn’t follow through…
-I don’t have time
-I’m too tired -I can’t afford it -I will get to it when I’m caught up on everything else
Once I FINALLY started putting boundaries on my time for others, the fog started to lift. ??
It all started with me taking two nights a week out of my crazy work schedule to take a class I had been interested in for YEARS.
When I first signed up, I had extreme GUILT and ANXIETY because I was worried everything might fall apart if I wasn’t available ?? BUT guess what?!
The opposite happened! Those around me became more self-sufficient, clients no longer expected instant responses, and my world started to open up again. .
I had forgotten what it felt like to have dedicated “off time” where I could focus on what I wanted. It was a HUGE game-changer for me and launched me on an entirely new path of embracing MORE of what I WANT and saying NO to more of what I don’t.
I know it’s not easy for many of us but it’s SO IMPORTANT to your health and well-being!!
So…if you’re feeling overwhelmed, overworked, under appreciated, or just burned out…start with setting some time boundaries for yourself.
Add something to your schedule JUST for YOU and let the world adapt around you. .
The other pieces will still fall into place…trust me ?? and if you need help on this, let me know and I’d be happy to coach you through it! It’s time to start getting your life back ??????
